New updates for our September Product Release are now available on Wiise Australia and New Zealand environments!
Product update
Stripe payments - card surcharge
Australian card surcharge cutover
To help you stay compliant with the RBA's payments reforms without tracking the deadline themselves, we've built a date-driven cutover into Wiise Stripe Payments for Australian environments.
Before 1 October, surcharging works exactly as it does today, so you can keep passing on fees right up to the deadline.
From 1 October 2026, merchants can no longer surcharge card payments across eftpos, Visa, Mastercard and American Express, and the compliance risk sits with the merchant, not with Wiise or Stripe.
From 1 October 2026, Wiise payment links stop adding a surcharge for any card type in Australia, regardless of how "Charge Stripe Fee to Customer" is configured. Payers go straight to the standard Stripe checkout with the invoice amount only.
Payments keep flowing into Wiise Stripe Payment records and the cash receipt journal unchanged. Nothing to configure, nothing to switch off, no date for your customers to diarise.
This is especially valuable for any Australian business currently surcharging at checkout, particularly those with a month-end or quarter-end landing the same week as the ban.
